I first learned about the Big Green Egg when I was hired by Tarantin Industries in November of 2014. It was love at first sight. By the following summer (June 2015) I had talked my way into going to our company sponsored EGGfest in New Hampshire (They needed pictures! I’m the Digital Marketing Manager! Who else could do this?! 🙂 ) In between taking photos I was able to sample the food of the six vendors who participated. I was hooked. I had to have one, but our current barbecue was still functioning. “How can I convince my wife that this big ticket item will be a smart purchase?” I thought. There was no need to, because she went to the EGGfest too, and was hooked as well.
Cut to Father’s Day 2016.
My wife surprises me with a large Big Green Egg. I started out slow. Burgers, hot dogs (I know! It can do so much more! But I needed to get my feet wet.) I started out looking for recipes online. Then I bought a Big Green Egg cookbook (the Slow Fire cookbook that you’ll see mentioned in a lot of the posts). Then I went for it. I made my own pastrami. There was no going back.
I started this website for a couple of reasons:
- It’s a great way to keep all my recipes organized for repeat Egging (like that pastrami recipe that was oh so good).
- To share my experiences with other new Eggers, and to supply them with another place to go for their next Egging recipe.
- To have some of the experienced Eggers out their weigh in on my experiences. Help me kick Egging up to the next level.
I’m looking forward to all the great food that will come out of my Big Green Egg, sharing that experience with you, and hearing your thoughts. Now let’s get out there and fire up those Eggs! It’s time to eat!
