Thin and Spicy Barbecue Sauce

From Dr. BBQ’s book Slow Fire: The Guide to Lip-Smacking Barbecue

Ingredients

  • 1 cup tomato juice
  • ½ cup V8 juice
  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar in the Raw
  • 1 tablespoon A.1. Steak Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon celery seed
  • ¼ teaspoon ground chipotle
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper

Directions

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine all the liquid ingredients first, then the dry spices.

Bring to a simmer, stirring often, and cook for 3 minutes, until well blended.

Remove from the heat and serve, or cool and store the sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
